Trump Admin Live updates: Trump threatens Apple with a 25% rate, EU with 50%

American District Judge John Bates permanently prohibited the Trump administration from enforcing an executive order of March aimed at Jenner law firm & Block.
“This case arises from a series of executive orders aimed at law firms that, in one way or another, did not bow to the political orthodoxy of the current presidential administration,” Bates wrote. “Like the others in the series, this order, which points to the Global Jenner law firm & Block – does not make bones about why he chose his goal: he chose Jenner due to the causes of Jenner Champions, the customers that Jenner represents and a lawyer who Jenner once used. “
The decision of the judge appointed by Republicans is the last legal setback for the effort of the Trump administration to retaliate against what they are law firms that participate in the “law.”
Trump issued his executive order addressed to Jenner & Block in March, and the firm quickly demanded, arguing that the order is part of an effort to “force law firms and lawyers to renounce the critics of the administration and stop certain adverse representations to the government.”

Bates wrote that Trump’s order “is doubly violating the Constitution” because he not only addresses a law firm due to his legal work, but also sends a broader message to any lawyer who has challenged the “orthodoxy imposed by the Government.”
“This order, like the others, seeks to relax the legal representation that the administration is not similar, thus isolating the executive branch of the fundamental judicial control for the separation of powers,” he wrote.
