The former director of the FBI, James Comey, accused days after Trump demanded his movement from the ‘now’ Department of Justice to process the enemies

The former director of the FBI, James Comey, has been accused of making a false statement and an obstruction related to his testimony before the Judicial Committee of the Senate in 2020, a few days after President Donald Trump issued a public claim from his justice department to act “now” to bring prosecutions against Comey and other political enemies.
A statement issued by the United States Prosecutor’s Office For the East district of Virginia, he said that if he is convicted, Comey faces up to five years in prison. “Royal sentences for federal crimes are typically lower than the maximum sanctions,” said the statement.
The charges continue to the expulsion of Trump to the United States prosecutor for the Eastern district of Virginia, Erik Siebert, who according to Fuentes had expressed internally doubts about bringing cases against Comey, as well as the New York Attorney General, Letitia James, after Trump appointed him to lead the office.
Trump then moved immediately to install Lindsey Halligan, a White House assistant and his former defense lawyer, to direct the office, even though he has no experience in the previous prosecution.
Earlier this week, federal prosecutors in Virginia informed Halligan that they could not establish a probable cause to accuse Comment, ABC News reported. Despite the lack of clear evidence and ethical concerns about bringing a case without a clear cause of probability, Haligan sought an accusation of the Grand Jury, the sources said.
A Comey lawyer did not immediately respond to a request for comments from ABC News.
In a series of publications on social networks during the weekend, Trump said that Halligan was being appointed to the office to “make things move”, after attacking Siebert for his resistance to bringing what Trump described as a “big case.”

The charges against Comey are the most dramatic escalation to what critics have described as a Trump remuneration campaign to use the powers of the federal government to promulgate revenge against those who believe they have harmed it.
Comey, who was fired by Trump during Trump’s first mandate on Trump’s campaign in 2016 and his ties with Russia, has been a vocal critic of what Trump’s efforts are to politicize the justice system.
It is likely that this argument will be central to Comey’s defense in its criminal case, which could be a very consistent evidence for the Department of Justice and the Federal Judiciary.
The United States Prosecutor’s Office in Eastern District of Virginia began investigating Comey in early August after Trump’s renewed called for prosecutions related to the alleged Russian interference in the 2016 elections, sources told ABC News.
The investigation in the East district of Virginia, which is carried out simultaneously in the western district of Virginia and the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, arose directly from the discovery of the director of the FBI KASH Patel of sensitive documents at the FBI headquarters related to Russia’s investigation, sources said.
They said that the documents led researchers to examine whether Comey’s testimony before Congress in September 2020, with respect to Russian interference, could support perjury or obstruction charges.
The prosecutors specifically examined Comey’s testimony about the alleged participation of Hillary Clinton that links Trump with Russia and if Comey authorized anonymous information leaks to the media.
