Parents accused of involuntary homicide after his 7 -year -old son fatally hit the car in North Carolina

The 7 -year -old child who was hit by a car while trying to cross a street in North Carolina, have been accused of involuntary homicide and remain in jail with a bail of $ 1.5 million, police said.
The boy was hit by a Jeep Cherokee on May 27 in Gastonia, located west of Charlotte, police said.

His parents, Jessica Ivey, 30, and Samuele Jenkins, 31, were accused two days after the deadly collision of involuntary homicide, child negligence of serious crime and minor child negligence, police said.
The parents said the older child was the child’s brother, Wsoc, ABC Charlotte affiliate, reported.
The Gastonia Police Department said in a Press release that his research “revealed that the children involved were not supervised at the time the child entered traffic.”

“At this time, there is no evidence of speed or irregularities by the driver, therefore, no charges have been presented,” said Gastonia Police Department. “The driver continues to cooperate and the incident remains under an active investigation by the traffic division of the Gastonia Police Department.”

Police did not release the name of the child who was fatally beaten, although his parents said that his first name was legend in an interview with WSOC Before your arrest.
Ivey told the station that his two children walked through the two blocks home from a mall for the first time on his own when the accident occurred, Wsoc reported.
“It was devastating. I’m still shock,” he told Wsoc.

Ivey added that he wanted “justice for my baby” against the driver, whose name has not been publicly published.
“I just don’t feel that I should still be able to drive,” Ivey told Wsoc.
Jenkins told Wsoc that he was talking on the phone with his children when the accident occurred.
“I heard my eldest son, he said: ‘My God, legend, no, no’,” he told the station. “So I hung and … I ran to find them.”
Parents are scheduled to appear before the court on June 20.
