“Will you get up today and make it clear [Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu that climb, what is threatening yesterday, is not of American interest: shouldn’t it drag the United States to the war with Iran? “, Representative RO Khanna, D-Calif., Hegseth asked.

“Well, congressman, that question included a lot of speculation,” Hegseth replied. “What I know is that Bibi Netanyahu will put his country first, and we are going to put our country first, and we are properly positioned in the region … for any possible contingency.”

Hegseth added that the United States and President Donald Trump are still “committed to creating conditions for peace.”
