Brown University alerted students about a reported active shooter on campus Saturday.
“There is an active shooter near Barus & Holley Engineering,” the school said in an emergency alert issued around 4:20 p.m.
“Close doors, silence phones, and remain hidden until further notice,” the notice said.

Initially, the school posted an update saying a suspect was in custody, however, in a follow-up post, the university said, “Police do not have any suspects in custody and continue to search for suspects.”
It was not immediately known if there are any victims or their conditions.
