Search for Travis Decker: The authorities say that it is believed that he is a father accused of killing 3 girls

It is believed that it is believed that Travis Decker, the 32 -year -old father accused of killing his three young daughters near a Washington camp, was located in a wooded remote area, according to the Sheriff’s office in Chelan County.

The remains were found during a search south of Leavenworth, authorities said.

“While positive identification has not yet been confirmed, preliminary findings suggest that the remains belong to Travis Decker,” Sheriff’s office said Thursday night.

The Sheriff’s office said he had been in contact with the Decker family and is “providing support and updates as the investigation progresses.”

“We are praying for the remains to be confirmed that they are from Travis. We are still grateful for the police efforts in this case and we always appreciate the love, compassion and support of Whitney around the world,” said Arianna Cozart, Whitney Decker’s lawyer, the former life and mother of the three murdered girls.

Decker, an army veteran, was wanted for three first -degree murder positions and three first -degree kidnapping positions, police said.

His daughters – Paityn Decker, 9; Evelyn Decker, 8; And Olivia Decker, 5, had left home for a planned visit with him on May 30, and never returned, authorities said. Three days later, the girls were found dead near the Rock Island camp in Chelas County, Washington, after a search, police said.

Decker’s truck was recovered on the scene, but he was not found anywhere, which caused a huge mass.

Hundreds of people from dozens of agencies and organizations were involved in human hunting. Throughout the search efforts, multiple possible sightings of Decker were reported to the officials, including two in Idaho, one on June 4 and another on July 5, and one in Washington on August 1, and the three showed not success or resulting not to be decker.

Amid the search for Decker, the authorities warned that it should be considered armed and dangerous.

The United States Sheriff Service was offering a reward of up to $ 20,000 for information that leads directly to Decker’s arrest.

The girls had been found with plastic bags on their heads and their dolls were bound with zipper, according to judicial documents previously obtained by ABC News.

Three young sisters, Paityn Decker, 9, Evelyn Decker, 8 and Olivia Decker, 5 have been missing since May 31 after going to a “planned visit” with his father, according to the Wenatchee Police Department.

An autopsy determined that the cause of the death of the girls is suffocation and the way of death is homicide, said the Sheriff’s office of Chelan County on June 9.

The authorities also revealed in July that the bloody footprints found on the back gate of the decker truck coincided with the DNA profile “that we believe is Decker’s’s”, saying that “they have no reason to believe that there are other suspects.”

Cozart previously told ABC News that Decker had problems with mental health problems, including PTSD, and could not receive help through veterans resources.

The father “had some mental health problems and some instability in his life” that led to restrictions regarding night visits and took out their daughters from the area, but before the girls disappeared, “there were no red flags,” Cozart said.

Decker was deployed in Afghanistan in 2014 while he was active duty in the Army and was transferred to the Washington National Guard in 2021 “from the active component,” according to a spokesman for the Washington State Military Department. Preparations for a “separation of the administration” began in 2023 or 2024, but the process has not officially begun, said the spokesman.

Almost two months after the search for Decker, the authorities said they were reducing human hunting in the midst of a “decrease in potential clients and advice”, but encouraged that “all those who venture to these areas remain attentive and suspicious reports and activities.”

Previously, Chelan County Sheriff, Mike Morrison, had told ABC News that they were not going to resign the case.

“We could be in a fight for five years, 10 years, 20 years. I certainly hope we are looking at a couple of weeks and closed, but it could spend a lot of time and we are committed to keeping that,” Morrison told ABC News in July.

However, the FBI closed the Rock Island camp and its surroundings at the end of August to perform an extensive network search. The agency found “several articles” after two days combing the area that would be sent back to the tests, including bones.
