Seriously injured after an alleged homophobic attack in Illinois McDonald’s, adults and youth accused

A young woman was physically attacked and called “derogatory” names in an McDonald’s in Illinois, with two men, including a minor, accused of the incident, according to the Carpentersville Police Department.

The incident occurred on May 13, when the police responded to a report of a fight in a McDonald’s in Carpentersville, Illinois, which is approximately one hour outside Chicago.

Once at the scene, the officials determined that the incident “involved an aggravated battery against a victim,” the police said in a Press release Shared during the weekend.

The authorities said the altercation began when two male suspects made “derogatory comments on the victim’s sexual orientation when they passed it.”

This confrontation became a physical fight, police said.

The female victim, Kady Grass, suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where “she was treated and discharged,” said the police.

Grass told Chicago ABC Station WLS That the two men began to trample in their head, making it unconscious.

“It simply flew that this happened and it was all because I like girls instead of men,” said Grass, who suffered a broken nose after the attack, WLS.

Police said “multiple charges for serious crimes” were approved against the two men involved, including the “most serious” position that the battery that causes bodily damage caused.

One of the suspects, a minor, gave the police on May 16, and the other man, John Kammrad, 19, was arrested on May 17, authorities said.

“This incident underlines the importance of addressing violence and discrimination within our community. The Carpentersville Police Department remains committed to guaranteeing public safety and promoting respect for all people,” said the police.

Kammrad was accused of two aggravated battery charges and the use of the action of strength or violence that disturbs peace, according to judicial records. He was in custody in Kane County prison, but the judicial records indicate that on Monday, the suspect was “released to another agency.”

Grass told WLS that the state prosecutor’s office informed him that they are also considering accusing Kammrad of a hate crime.

The Kammrad status hearing is scheduled for May 22 and its guilt environment is scheduled for June 27, according to judicial records.

Judicial records indicate that Kammrad has appointed a lawyer, but the name of the public defender does not appear on the list.
